Located to the north of the country, Amazon area possesses more than 7 million Km2, enclosing seven Brazilian states and nine South-American countries. The region is recovered by the Amazonian Tropical Rain Forest and formed by the basin of the Amazon River that, with more than thousand affluents and it represents, at least, 20% of all the available hydric resources in the planet.

Due its great biodiversity, the Amazon represents an enormous reserve of natural resources - vegetal, mineral and animal - and it influences directly the climatic balance of the Earth. Beyond great bush areas, the Amazônia also presents fields, dry bushes, igapós, manguezais, islands, fluvial beaches of white sand, waterfalls, and a rich flora and fauna, with about 30 thousand species of plants and 30 million animal species.

The Amazon rivers are the best way to know the forest and to observe the animals of this region. Strolls of boat through igarapés, rocky outcrops and sand banks are a great adventure, and still options of hiking bush, spend the night in the forest, nocturnal animals sighting, sportive fishing and canoe practices and rafting.

In the center of the biggest tropical forest of the planet, meets Manaus, a glad commercial city, whose name has origin in the brave tribe of Manaós indians. Established during the rubber exploration apogee, it was considered one of the most richest cities of the world and coexists with an extraordinary supply of natural resources. Rich in history and culture it possess monumental constructions with materials imported from some european countries and decorated with luxury for the most famous international artists of epoch, between which the Palácio Rio Negro (Palace Black River) that for some decades served as residence for the State Governor.

A cool travel tip is a visit to the old center: To walk accros the floating port and to know the colored fish market with its local and delicious spices, opened every day, that offers a fantastic variety of typical medicinal plants of the Amazon. Manaus also has a great variety of stores, as a great and modern Shopping Center. The nocturnal life is lively, mainly in the road Ponta Negra, an avenue throughout the river, beyond pleasant activities on the beach, has many restaurants, coffees and nocturnal houses.
